History and building of the type "Fast 40"

When I bougtht the yacht in 1998 I got a lot of papers written by the American drawer Mr. Alan J. Adler, Paloma Alta CA, in which he made remarks about his ideas of hull construction. There I found out that he was (is?) not really a friend of the common waterproof mobile homes with high up sails. He prefered the Swedish way of long narrow boats with a small draft and so he constructed his own racer in the 70th in San Francisco under theese impressions. By means of the early computer systems of the NASA he improved his drawings and after he had buildt the yacht, won several silver.
Some interested looser formed a syndicate around 1980 and made molds from the hull. Noth End Marine in Rockland, Maine buildt 15 boats.
